Boeing evacuated several new 787-10 Dreamliner jets from its factory in North Charleston, South Carolina, to protect them from the storm.

According to Storyful, the video was shot at the Fish Heads Bar & Grill pier in Nags Head.

The winds of Hurricane Florence weakened as the storm prepared to hit the U.S. East Coast, but forecasters warn the storm's overall size and its ability to push ashore a storm surge while dropping tremendous amounts of rain make it a threat to the lives of those in its path.

But what forecasters are keeping an eye on, in particular, is the forward motion of the storm.

He said he's going to spend Thursday with friends at a local beachfront restaurant and bar, and once the storm arrives, he'll watch it from his back porch.

Members of law enforcement work with the National Guard to direct traffic onto US Highway 501 as Hurricane Florence approaches the US east coast.

Once it makes landfall Friday morning, Florence is expected to stall, drenching the region with 20 to 30 inches and as much as 40 inches in isolated areas. Most wind damage will occur Friday and early Saturday as the storm slowly passes through southern North Carolina into SC. It will then move along the "spine of the Appalachians".

The National Weather Service forecasts sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s this weekend, with the exception of lakefront areas, which are predicted to reach the high 70s. Areas from Cape Fear to Cape Lookout face a potential 9 to 13 feet of storm surge, the National Hurricane Center warns, on top of the normal tides.

Heavy rains have been forecast to extend into the Appalachian mountains, affecting parts of Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. "That's the second story of a house", North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said Thursday morning.

And while some people may think that Florence doesn't possess the same punch Harvey did since it's only a Category 2 storm, there is a comparison: Sandy.

Hurricane Florence, now a Category 2 storm, is slowly approaching the USA coast, and the storm's massive fury is on full display in video footage taken from the International Space Station.

Steering currents - around clear-weather high-pressure systems and stormy low-pressure systems - redirect hurricanes, with the clear-weather systems acting as walls that storms have to go around. Even if you've ridden out storms before, this one is different. "Once the storm moves further inland to Atlanta and Charlotte, the biggest issue will be rain and thunderstorms", she said.

The Hurricane Florence has began to unleash fierce rains across the USA southeast. "You feel like you should have already left".

"Extremely unsafe winds will cause extensive damage: Well-constructed frame homes could sustain major roof and siding damage". Nathan Deal declared an emergency but did not immediately order any evacuations. Sixty-one shelters have opened in SC - 12 of which are designated for special medical needs - able to now accommodate more than 31,000 people.

The first large power outage in the Wilmington area also occurred Thursday morning, with the Duke outage map showing almost 1,400 customers in the Acme-Delco area of Columbus County and northwest Brunswick County without power.
