Deadpool 2 movie review: Ryan Reynolds brings home another victor

Deadpool vs. Stephen Colbert

The answer was tested when Ryan Reynolds made a surprise appearance during the May 15 episode of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert".

Although, there was one celebrity guest the superhero did not want on Colbert's show. A sequel means new challenges, and Deadpool 2 resets its game pieces in a pretty nasty way fairly early on, sending Wade into a suicidal depression he can't quip his way out of.

After the events of the first movie, Wade Wilson/Deadpool (Reynolds) is up to his usual antics. Now anyone who has that sense of passion for a project deserves the chance to see his baby take flight. The X-Men once again hope to recruit the potty-mouthed superhero into their unconventional family, only for "Red" to assemble his own rival X-Force, with hilariously violent results. Things that happen next form the rest of the narrative. I actually expected it to not receive that great response because my character is not in the comic books. Because the world needs more of this, even if it's not an entirely flawless movie. Nowadays many writers and directors seem to be too anxious about political correctness in their movies.

And that fundamental mismatch never resolves itself, try as everyone might to distract us from scene to scene. Director David Leitch has more of a background in stunts, and he uses that knowledge to make each huge showdown bigger than the previous one. The pacing of the movie is excellent, as it holds your interest through its entirety.

Star and producer Ryan Reynolds spoke to us about what to expect this time around. "You're tall, you're handsome, you have the ideal amount of scruff and you still have no talent", he said at one point.

In an exclusive one-on-one interview with KISS 92, he declares: "Singapore will love Deadpool 2, it is literally the best one yet". The film pits Deadpool and Cable against each other for the most part. The film could also be considered too similar in many ways to the original.

Deadpool 2 follows our favourite mercenary as he puts together a team of superheroes to fight against a time-travelling assassin named Cable.

Ryan Reynolds also promoted the video on Twitter saying, "Showtime, Mama".

Oh yeah, I can't imagine anyone else.

Reynolds had previously said that Deadpool had come to fruition because a leaked footage of the movie reached the public and the fans' overwhelming reaction helped Fox finalise their decision of making a movie on the motormouth character.

Brolin is an excellent villain, and the cast of supporting characters like Domino, Bedlam and Shatterstar are all solid in their roles.
