Embiid remains doubtful Fultz draws into rotation for Game 3

Wade, affectionately known as Father Prime, is still putting up numbers for Miami. And there's no reason to expect him to slow down now, especially with how motivated he appears to be.

Embiid's playoff debut was a smashing success for Philadelphia.

Joel Embiid returned to the lineup and promptly scored 23 points while adding seven rebounds and four assists. 76ers coach Brett Brown is a former a Spurs assistant who has remained close with the Popovich family, and said Erin Popovich "was a star, like a real star". The team's plethora of shooters all made big contributions as well, with Marco Belinelli coming off the bench with 21 points, Dario Saric netting 22, and Ben Simmons posting his usual near triple double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.

"It was annoying", Embiid said of getting used to the mask. He will reportedly wear a mask and goggles but isn't on an official minutes limit. "I'll spend some time working that out in the next day in a half".

Thursday began with the 76ers saying Embiid wasn't likely to play.

But something clicked after he went down, and the team quickly figured out how to play, and dominate, without him.

How quickly things have changed for the Trail Blazers.

Goran Dragic was the scoring leader for the Heat, totaling 23 points and eight assists. Philly will take a 2-1 series advantage into Game 4 on Saturday afternoon at the same arena.

Embiid ultimately got his revenge on Winslow later in the game.

Meanwhile, Miami couldn't find any sort of stride.

Whiteside played only 13 minutes - five minutes in the first quarter that ended with his second foul, 2 1/2 minutes in second that ended with foul No. 3, 3 1/2 minutes in the third that led to foul No. 4, then two minutes in the fourth where he had two turnovers.

Whiteside's only basket, and shot, in Game 3 came on a lob from Dwyane Wade with 8:41 to play in the game. However, early in the fourth, the Sixers got some of their momentum back taking a ten point lead with about nine minutes left in the game.

The Sixers lost Game 2 at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday.

The final count on the whistles: 30 fouls for the Heat, 26 for the 76ers, and three technicals each as well.

"It's clear that the first game and the third game were played on their terms", Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra said.

Embiid made his first start in 10 games since suffering a left orbital fracture that required corrective surgery at the end of March.

For those of you who missed it, here is a condensed version of what he told reporters on the scene in Miami, with the more standard parts of the conversation removed to get straight to the point. Only being given a 1.10 percent chance of victory on numberFire, the Heat are looking to defy the odds.
