Manchester City confirmed as champions as rivals United lose

But most other times City took to the field, it was only ever a question of whether the opposition could contain them.
"He's calm, he's balanced, he's happy, and I think Manchester City will soon offer him the possibility to stay on".
But he has proved that City are by far the best team in the League and are deserving champions. The team kicked off this run with a 2-0 win over Brighton on opening day, and then saw it come to an end at 11 tilts following a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on New Year's Eve. I don't like to wait and see a team lose so it was different experience today.
"The worrying thing for all the other clubs now is that City could be around for a long, long time".
His Chelsea side stormed to the 2004-05 title in his debut season with a Premier League record 95 points and backed it up the following year with 91, good for an eight-point margin ahead of United as Frank Lampard fired 16 goals from midfield.
Not only that but he did it with five games remaining, equalling the English top-flight record of United (1907-08 and 2000-01) and Everton (1984-85).
But even though the title is in the bag and all those associated with the club are in celebration, there are still a host of Premier League records Pep Guardiola's all-conquering outfit are looking to smash.
City joins the 2005-06 Chelsea and 2010-11 Manchester United sides for this feat. It was a club that had known recent success - two league titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup in the five seasons before Guardiola's arrival - and therefore had a culture of winning but, at the same time, it had been preparing themselves for him to come for several years.
Few - including Guardiola - expected it to happen on Sunday.
Speaking after the win over Tottenham, Guardiola admitted winning the title in England would be one of the greatest achievements of his glittering career.
City though have never successfully defended a league title and Kompany is hoping he can help build a dynasty at the Etihad.
Guardiola has now won seven league titles in nine seasons as a senior coach in three countries after conquering La Liga and the Bundesliga with Barcelona and Bayern Munich on multiple occasions.
"These players deserve all my respect because they have been unbelievable all season. Those two teams barely had a weakness between them".
