Read the memo here.

The FBI ultimately interviewed Papadopoulos in January 2017 and then arrested him in June.

It would take months for the Senate to confirm any Trump nominee to replace Rosenstein, with Senate Democrats likely to hold up proceedings. I also have serious concerns with the practice of using political documents funded by a candidate's political opponents to make law enforcement and counter-intelligence decisions.

"The top Leadership and Investigators of the FBI and the Justice Department have politicized the sacred investigative process in favor of Democrats and against Republicans", he tweeted.

It alleges the FBI used unsubstantiated allegations by former British spy Christopher Steele to obtain a warrant to monitor a Trump campaign aide.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions defended is deputy in the face of criticism from the president.

Wray represented major companies in litigation but also worked for Trump ally Chris Christie in the so-called "Bridgegate" political scandal in New Jersey.

The tweet was the latest in a series from Comey this week as Trump clashed with the FBI over the release of the GOP-written memo. Hurd voted for the release of the document, but explained in a Washington Post opinion piece that he wants the Mueller investigation to continue.

"TV news have spent nearly 100 hours covering the investigation into alleged 'collusion' between Russia and the Trump campaign".

The FBI concluded days later that there was nothing additional of concern in the emails.

The Saturday Night Massacre is a reference to former president Richard Nixon's firing of Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox, which led to the resignations of Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus.

So what's the scoop?

White House counsel Don McGahn wrote in a letter attached to the memo that Trump had authorized its declassification "in light of the significant public interest in the memorandum".

"This settlement achieves both objectives by stripping Quiros of the proceeds of his fraudulent scheme and requiring him to turn over valuable property for the benefit of harmed investors", said Eric Bustillo, director of the SEC's Miami regional office.

Nunes gained attention last year when he fanned the flames of a groundless conspiracy theory accusing the Obama administration of authorizing the illegal "unmasking" of Trump campaign officials.

US House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) [official website], with approval from President Trump, declassified and released a memo [text, PDF] on Friday claiming that the FBI overstepped their surveillance authority while investigating Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election. "None of this is true".

"Don't worry. 100 percent", the president responded. Ohr's wife was employed by Fusion GPS at the same time, but the FBI never told the FISA court about it.

If this is in fact an accurate characterisation of Mr McCabe's testimony, then it would go a long way toward substantiating the memo's contention that the dossier and the surveillance request are inextricably linked.

What will linger from Friday's memo is also a worry of politicizing U.S intelligence and a widening lack of trust, particularly among lawmakers handling intelligence matters.

FBI agents defended the bureau after the memo's release.

Steele was already known to be opposed to a Trump victory (on account of what he saw as Trump being compromised by Russia).

Comey weighed in on Twitter as well: "All should appreciate the FBI speaking up". Let me be clear: I stand fully committed to our mission.

"The sole purpose of the Republican document is to circle the wagons around the White House and insulate the President", Schiff said in a statement after the memo's release.

Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., have been pushing an immigration proposal which included a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients.

The accuracy of the memo is hard to assess because the majority of the underlying contents are classified or confidential. The FBI did not disclose this to the court.

"This decision was made with input from the President's national security team-including law enforcement officials and members of the intelligence community, for whom the President has great respect".
