Newport continued to thwart Spurs at every turn, but just when it appeared the Welsh club were about to pull off one of the most memorable victories in their long history, their hearts were broken.

Close to 10,000 supporters will be packed into Rodney Parade for the historic tie and hundreds of thousands more will be watching live on BT Sport.

But then Pochettino threw on the cavalry from his bench. In the 67th minute, Heung-Min Son nearly made it 1-1. But NO-ONE it seems can stop Kane.

"The team didn't show that they really wanted to go to the next round of the FA Cup".

"It's going to be a tough ask at Wembley, but we'll go there and give it a go and you never know".

They made hard work of this match but were missing a number of senior players, and they should emerge victorious at Wembley.

Their League Two opponents share their pitch with two rugby teams and it looked like it too.

Eliminated from the League Cup and way out of the league title race (if there even is a title race to speak of this season), the FA Cup is probably Spurs best chance to win silverware.

"It's good for everybody around Newport and there's a great buzz at the moment".

Joss Labadie used his strength to reclaim the ball and played Frank Nouble in across the box, the winger unable to keep his cool under pressure as he blazed a shot off target.

Newport continued to press and Vorm held Willmott's free-kick before Ben White dragged his volley wide. "Once you get into the game, it goes to the back of your mind".

Tottenham were struggling to find any fluency on a muddy pitch, although Kane did side-foot over from 25 yards after linking well with Fernando Llorente.

Foxall is relishing the prospect of welcoming the Premier League giants to Newport.

Labadie was booked after hacking down Kane.

Tottenham's Victor Wanyama in action with Newport County's Dan Butler. His cross was clipped perfectly; Amond's leap made statues of the Spurs defence and the din, as Vorm's net rippled, induced goosebumps.

Spurs introduced Son Heung-Min at half-time and Dele Alli shortly afterwards, and the visitors dominated the second period.

It was a surprise he did not take off Llorente, who was having a shocker. The former West Ham forward has had a mercurial career and, with the chance to score its most memorable goal, lost his composure, leaning back and skying a wild effort more suited to the oval-ball game.

- Kane has scored in four consecutive games for Spurs in all competitions, his best run since November 2016.

"This is money that can be put towards it. I hear in five years here that the FA Cup is magic".
