Temperatures were expected to remain below freezing through Thursday afternoon, with a high of around 25 on Monday and Tuesday, and around 22 on Wednesday.

Tuesday will again be chilly, with a high of 27 and daytime wind chills as low as minus 15, NWS predicts.

Lows tonight will range from the low to mid-20s along and southeast of Interstate 65 to upper teens to around 20 northwest of the interstate, the weather service said. Temperatures will crash all day on Tuesday with the snow and the cold front.

"The weather will be quiet and increasingly mild Thursday, Friday, and for the upcoming weekend", said meteorologist Scot Haney. Wednesday is partly sunny during the afternoon hours.

Most models are in agreement with winter precipitation likely over northern Louisiana, with freezing rain changing to snow.
