Trump's remarks were almost universally condemned as racist and demeaning, sparking an immediate backlash from worldwide leaders and domestic lawmakers, both Democrats and Republicans.

He spent the past year of his life condemning what he called the "triple evils" of racism, poverty and war. Day, the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Murray State is hosting several events Janurary 14-15, including the annual MLK Jr.

"This year we will not remember his slaying as the ending but as a beginning, as a moment when his truth rose stronger than hatred, and his cause larger than death", Carson said. The classroom and judiciary were the primary weapons of change, but it also took a lot of fearless people standing up, sitting down and bleeding for what was right.
