Bill Belichick dismisses 'baseless' claims, 'absolutely' plans to coach Patriots next season

NFL insider says Bill Belichick to return next season; Brady's sister weighs in

Just because Brady is an global celebrity and wealthy beyond any of his dreams doesn't mean he likes being yelled at by his boss any more than you.

Earlier this week, Seth Wickersham of ESPN wrote a featured piece detailing the Patriots crumbling infrastructure.

Bill Belichick offered a one-word answer on Monday when asked if it was his intention to return to the New England Patriots next season. In a radio interview, Brady described his relationships with Kraft and Belichick as "positive" and no different than they've been his entire career. There is so much contradiction with this story that it's hard to decipher the truth. For those of you who are not on social media or have begun their removal from the sport on a daily basis now that the season is over for the Dolphins, let us direct you to that ESPN article.

ESPN stands by its reporting. Guerrero wasn't allowed on the team plane or sideline anymore and was allowed to only train Brady at the team facility, according to reports. Also, Wickersham said Kraft forced Belichick to trade backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo after Brady expressed interest in playing into his mid-40s. To think any differently of that is complete nonsense. "The next time I spoke to Bill about it was the Monday before the trade deadline". I think it's Matt Patricia because of [Detroit GM] Bob Quinn, who was with the Patriots organization for nearly 15 years in so many different roles, has a relationship with Patricia. He said he worked on this story for two months. Kraft and Belichick eventually held a meeting, which resulted in the mandate to trade Garoppolo. Either the article's sources weren't quite accurate, or Kraft was lying. "I just couldn't see him leaving".

As someone with still-functioning flavor buds and a very comfortable couch, Tom Brady's first lifestyle-branded book, "The TB 12 Method, " is somewhere below "Idiot" by the great American author Johnny Damon on my reading list. It rubbed some people the wrong way within the Patriots organization according to Wickersham. It makes sense because he can build teams, NY is rebuilding and the city is getting impatient. The Giants could be left in desperation mode if they wait for Belichick and he ultimately decides to stay in New England or retire.

The defeat didn't really set back New England. Belichick has been the Patriots' head coach since 2000, leading the team to five Super Bowl titles with Brady as his starting quarterback. Winslow Townson - USA TODAY Sports. But one passage in the report should pump the brakes on the BB to NYG hysteria: "The source has not spoken to Belichick since the (ESPN) story came out". Brady is the favorite to win NFL MVP.

I'm not so sure that I buy this Patriots rift. In this particular case, it's nothing more than a fun fantasy for the Giants and their fans. Did he, on Garoppolo's behalf, make it clear to Belichick at some point during the season that Garoppolo had no intention of sticking around beyond next year, when he could be franchise-tagged for a salary that would exceed Brady's and gut the depth on the roster? It's about what's best for the team - same as it's always been.
