OnePlus 5 & 5T to Soon Receive Android Oreo Open Beta Update

How the OnePlus 5T stacks up against Apple's iPhone X

The new device will supercede the OnePlus 5, which was only launched in June. That's great news for people looking to buy the handset, but it might be a bitter disappointment to those who bought its predecessor just a couple of months ago. While it was earlier expected that the phone would be priced slightly higher and the OnePlus 5 would remain on sale, it is now known that the OnePlus 5 is to be discontinued and completely replaced by the OnePlus 5T, which has maintained pricing at the same level. We'll be honest with you though.

The Open Beta 27 and Open Beta 18 for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T also bring improvements in Smart text Selection in addition to an update for OnePlus Gallery, Weather, Recorder and File Manager applications. We will, however, describe some highlighted features.

Even in terms of feel, the OnePlus 5T manages a much smoother finish as compared to the iPhone X. While the steel sides do offer the iPhone X a premium feel, it isn't really as smooth as the OnePlus 5T's.

The knock-on effect of this move is that the phone no longer has capacitive buttons for home and recent apps on the front of the phone below the screen. However, due to the larger display, we expect the battery to last lesser than the OnePlus 5, which wouldn't be pleasing for many buyers. Users can change the colour temperature to their liking.

The OnePlus 5 T's wallpapers are vibrant and full of color, with lots of swirls and range from lighter to darker hues. OnePlus has also joined the fleet of manufacturers that have launched bezel-less display devices in 2017.

Still, the OnePlus 5T's 18:9 screen doesn't feature Apple's now-signature "notch", which can only be a good thing.

With the telephoto lens gone, the camera loses its optical 2x zoom capabilities. Both of them have a f/1.7 aperture.

Elsewhere, OnePlus' Intelligent Pixel Technology will see the secondary camera merge four pixels into one, reducing noise in low-light environments and enhancing clarity, while a new Portrait Mode will make selfies less fuzzy, the company claims.

It is being hailed as a "fit for low-light photography" camera. And it's a bit disappointing we don't get to see Android Oreo.

The Samsung's Galaxy Note8 is not only the comany's best smartphone, it is also the most expensive one ever delivered by Samsung.

Do you think that the OnePlus 5T should have arrived with Android Oreo preinstalled? On the front, users will find the same 16MP sensor as they did on the OnePlus 5 that launched in the summer. The 6GB/64GB variant has a price tag of Rs 32,999, and the 8GB/128GB variant has a price tag of Rs 37,999.

Before releasing a feature publicly, OnePlus users are involved for feedback.
