Jeremy Lane likely out for Seahawks vs. Rams

Seattle lost its top rusher, Chris Carson, to injury last week, but the Rams largely shut down Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy and held Wilson, an excellent scrambler, to 16 yards.

Carroll obviously is well connected in Southern California from his days as USC's head coach.

While it's unclear if Seattle will continue standing throughout the season, the team has made it apparent they will stick together. But Rams coach Sean McVay said that Joyner is "progressing really well" and that the team is simply being cautious with a soft-tissue injury for a skill-position player.

Make that a fistful at least. The guy was picked off seven times compared to just five touchdown passes last season when he looked as bad as a quarterback picked No. 1 overall has ever looked.

So excuse the Seahawks (2-2) if they don't recognize this revitalized L.A. unit. He caught three passes for 36 yards, including a 21-yarder on a third-quarter drive that ended with a field goal. A win would make the Rams clear favorites to win the NFC West and make the playoffs for the first time since 2004.

That was for defensive-line depth with Cliff Avril out indefinitely and Quinton Jefferson out after breaking his hand Wednesday in practice. Goff and Gurley are evolving into a potentially risky duo for Los Angeles, which has been a much different team on offense in the early going.

If you play Daily Fantasy, then you already know Greg Zuerlein is a must have on your roster every week.

It was Zuerlein's three field goals that led the Rams to a 9-3 win over Seattle previous year.

Austin, the wide receiver used more often as a ball carrier by McVay, scored the game's first points when he took a handoff and high-stepped to the end zone early in the second quarter.

While the offense has become the darling of the National Football League, the defense has shown plenty of warts. For what it's worth, Seattle has scored a total of nine points in those three games against the Rams in the Coliseum.

Seattle will try to pile on after beating the Indianapolis Colts 46-18. Considering that the San Francisco 49ers have yet to win a game this season, it's safe to assume that Seattle only has to beat Arizona and Los Angeles to win the division. Whether it's a couple of early deep balls to stretch the Rams' secondary to loosen them up or going with a hurry-up or no-huddle approach, Wilson must dictate the tempo of the game early and often to give his offensive line a chance to succeed.

Johnson said he felt "real comfortable" in his first start, and his only major lament after the game was that he failed to score a touchdown on his interception and was chased down by Wilson. Rams rookie Cooper Kupp barely missed a diving TD grab on third down, and Goff's fourth-down pass to Kupp was too low. Come Sunday, he'll be trying to stop one. Goff, with the ball on the Seattle 15, was intercepted by Sheldon Richardson on a tipped pass as L.A. was turned away again.
