Pats sink Bucs with defense, Brady

O.J. Howard and the Bucs meet the Patriots tonight in one of the most anticipated games in the history of Raymond James Stadium

Amazon paid $50 million earlier this year to stream 10 Thursday Night Football games, and tonight marks the second game of the season that will be aired via Amazon Prime. These two teams played twice last season, once in the postseason, which the Packers won, and once in the regular season, which the Cowboys won.

If anyone was expecting the Patriots to sprint out of their doldrums, it didn't happen. "I've been a part of lot of teams that we didn't score many points but we won the game anyway, and there were games where we scored a lot of points and we got a win", Brady added. He also failed to convert from 56 and 49 yards and has made only one field goal in his last six attempts.

Having the Thursday night game gives the Bucs the benefit of having extra time to scout kickers and try to improve what has been a miserable situation for their team the last two years. But to be fair, the problems were not exclusively defensive. Brady threw a bad interception (his first of the season) in the first half and then lost a fumble after getting sacked.

In fact, the Pats have allowed each of the four quarterbacks they've faced to throw for more than 300 yards. Jackson has just nine receptions in three games.

The defense didn't make the glaring errors of the Carolina game - Tampa didn't attack aerially the way the Panthers did - but there were troubling aspects.

Winston completed 26 of 46 passes for 334 yards, but he went 14 of 21 for 225 yards in the fourth quarter.

The Buccaneers had a chance to win the game after driving to the Patriots' 19-yard line with three seconds remaining, but Jameis Winston's pass for tight end O.J. Howard fell incomplete.

Nick Folk's future with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is up in the air. "Just play smart, be on the same page and not have mental errors".

With this win over the Bucs, the Patriots are now 3-2 on the season and right back in the race for another AFC East title. Again, you've got to play flawless. Ragged performances, subpar football and bad games. It wasn't like the Patriots waltzed in and stomped on the Bucs. "They have a great coach, a great quarterback, a great defense". Tampa Bay has now converted 28 of their 42 field-goal attempts (66%) since the beginning of the 2016 season, the lowest percentage in the league.

WHERE'S THE RUSH?: Tampa Bay has one sack through three games, none the past two weeks.

While both teams are playing on a short week of practice, the Bucs are at home while the Patriots had to spend Wednesday traveling. Like the buccaneers of old, not the Buccaneers of Koetter. "So just go full in, getting ready for the game Thursday night, and you'll be good".
