TCU Horned Frogs vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys Preview and Prediction
Sep 24 2017 by Lorena Waters
Great magicians never reveal their tricks.
TCU coach Gary Patterson said the Cowboys play a physical brand of football. While it might not officially get the name "Bedlam", it could have College Football Playoff implications, and it could exceed bedlam into outright maelstrom.
Oklahoma State is a ideal 3-0 at home against TCU since the Horned Frogs entered the Big 12 in 2012.
There were no smoke and mirrors.
After forcing an OSU punt, the TCU offense was forced to punt.
While the Horned Frogs pushed the lead as high as 20 with an effective ground game, Oklahoma State refused to go away and made it a 37-24 game with 9:44 to go on a Justice Hill touchdown catch.
"If you give Rudolph time, he'll do what he does, and if you're going to stay in the ball game, you can't allow Oklahoma State to throw the deep ball, plain and simple", Patterson said. Instead, Darius Anderson broke through the line untouched for a 42-yard touchdown - his third of the game - to put things out of reach.

But Patterson's bread and butter is on defense. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have asserted themselves as contenders, and Penn State will most likely contend for another Big 10 championship.
As the Longhorns traveled west last week for a date with the University of Southern California on Saturday night, the rest of the Big 12 continued its out-of-conference slate in the final week before Big 12 play. And in trying to stage a comeback, the stats are going to get skewed.
Oklahoma faces the Cowboys for Bedlam at Oklahoma State on November 4.
Oklahoma State may boast arguably the most potent offense in the conference by an institution not named Oklahoma or Texas Christian. Not every one, of course.
"I don't know", Patterson said. However, Georgia ranks fifth in the nation against the run, limiting its opponents to a pedestrian 71 yards per game.
"I think it's the best group that we've played up to this point", Gundy said. Washington for 367 yards and Ateman follows with 235. "You've got to trust in the offensive line, that they're gonna do their job, and I've gotta do my job making guys miss or breaking tackles". TCU converted 11-of-19 third-down attempts, seemingly moving the ball against OSU's defense. That led to either coverage sacks, turnovers or general bad decisions.
Now, to those without lives who follow this stuff, "Bedlam" usually dangles off the back edge of the schedule, waiting there with its rivals 65 miles apart, its promise of exquisite contempt and its lopsided all-time score in which Oklahoma State has won only 18 of the 111 matches.
At least three times after the game, OSU coach Mike Gundy said his team was "out-coached". TCU's Nick Orr drifted back in coverage and easily intercepted McCleskey's throw with just 6:06 to play and the Cowboys driving with momentum.
Saturday's game marks the sixth between the Pokes and the Horned Frogs since TCU joined the Big 12 in 2012. His record after losing seasons speaks for itself, as Dan Wolken of USA Today pointed out. It's hard to beat Oklahoma State, especially in Stillwater. Through three games he is tied with Washington for the team lead with 13 receptions and is second with 235 yards. "You have to get ready to block them". The Rams are a solid team, and struggling against them isn't abnormal.
