Pep Guardiola once again compared Manchester City to his great Barcelona sides after it beat Watford 6-0.

Manchester City has shot to the summit of the Premier League table after recording an emphatic 6-0 win over Watford in Saturday's league clash at Vicarage Road.

Former England striker and record Premier League goalscorer Alan Shearer challenged Aguero to get 30 league goals this season, with the Argentine on five goals in five games.

Going in the opposite direction to the two Manchester clubs in the Premier League Winner market Tottenham and Liverpool can be backed at [18.0] and [30.0] respectively after surprisingly dropping home points on Saturday afternoon.

Asked if he considers City now ready to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Chelsea, Guardiola only replied: "We will see". When Gabriel came last season we can not forget he had just seven or eight games because he was injured immediately.

We put a lot of effort in, like we did with [Phil] Foden and Brahim and other guys to help them to grow up from here.

Aguero underlined his class and his quality with the hat-trick and an assist for Gabriel Jesus, while Nicolas Otamendi and Raheem Sterling added the rest. Watford looked as if they had legitimate claims for offside on two of the goals and Nathaniel Chalobah might have had a penalty.

Guardiola, however, was quick to call for calm after a similarly impressive start last season ended trophyless.

With this result, City has now scored 17 goals unanswered across all competitions, as part of four consecutive victories.

The games continue to come thick and fast for City, with Guardiola's side set to take in a League Cup clash with West Brom, a Champions League meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk and Premier League meetings with Crystal Palace and Chelsea before the end of September. The clean sheet recorded against Watford was City's third in succession, keeping out a side which had scored twice away to Southampton the week before. They shouldn't be slept on in the Premier League and they'll cause problems for this Manchester City squad. He was so important last season. A late goal by Sevilla last Wednesday kept the Reds from taking home three points in the Champions League. "He has this power to do this and we need his goals".

City were a joy to watch today in the ideal advertisement for Pep Guardiola's infamous brand of one-touch possession football.
