Adrian Peterson Says There Wasn't a Conflict on Sidelines with Sean Payton

Dalvin Cook Saints Vikings

The New Orlean Saints travel to face the Minnesota Vikings to kick off Monday Night Football for 2017.

"It felt pretty good", Peterson said of his first two carries.

Dalvin Cook. While all eyes might be on Peterson in his homecoming, it's not yet clear how New Orleans intend to use him, and just how many touches he is likely to get.

Told he had the ability to diffuse the situation by saying that his exchange with Payton had nothing to do with the fact that Peterson had only four carries in the first two quarters, an agitated Peterson brought up the fact that too many people jump to conclusions. WR Stefon Diggs' two first-half touchdowns were the first for a Minnesota player in one half of the season opener since Moss accomplished the feat in 2004.

Both games tonight feature Live In Play betting markets, which is the most interactive way to bet on the National Football League all season long. The scandal caused sponsors to drop him, fans to throw away his jersey and several high-ranking Vikings officials to consider moving on from him right then and there. That leaves Joe Berger as the only returning offensive lineman for Minnesota, and he will be switching positions.

Peterson joined the Saints from Minnesota, where he's the franchise's all-time leader in rushing yards and touchdowns. "I don't really desire them to", Brees said in July. "I gave it my all, with everything that I did". He's the most notable of the seven players made inactive by the Vikings. Defense wins championships and season openers. It is an interesting game for Peterson, in particular, as he makes his Saints debut against his former team. He was booed vociferously by a rowdy Vikings crowd, many of whom still wore that purple No. 28 to the game. Although he played a big role, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins didn't start a game in 2016.

That wasn't the only unfamiliar feeling for Peterson. Mark Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara figure to share time with Peterson.

The Vikings' own run game remained a work in progress for much of the night, averaging just 2.94 yards per carry through the first three quarters before Cook's 32-yard burst opened the fourth quarter.

Outlook: Adrian Peterson will open his Saints career in the city he previously called home for a decade, and you best believe he'll be out for blood.

Unless his passion to prove a point to his old team takes over, I wouldn't expect a big day from the future Hall of Famer. He did it with shorter passes since he was constantly besieged behind a lackluster offensive line.

The veteran running back managed just 14 yards in the first half, while Diggs had six receptions for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
