'The Bachelorette' Finale: Did Rachel Lindsay Choose Eric, Peter or Bryan?
Aug 08 2017 by Johnnie Parsons
Bryan - the man who consumes Rachel's face whenever they're making out, so it looks like, as my friend says, "a dementor sucking the soul out of a handsome and innocent muggle" - and Rachel are engaged.
Well, first host Chris Harrison brings out Peter to the real-time stage and he and Rachel talk about their decision. "And you can see, watching that is no different".
It's official! Rachel Lindsay is engaged to Bryan Abasolo - and The Bachelorette has the Neil Lane ring to show for it. And after almost an hour of parsing what happened between Peter and Rachel-including a tense reunion between the two-Bryan walked away a "winner", even though it seemed Rachel was settling for the only man left standing. Or are you a giant Bryan fans?
Meanwhile, the fact that Rachel wanted a proposal wasn't lost on Peter.
"I'd pick Peter every single time". Rachel said she'd been there and done that with a man who wasn't ready for marriage. What she does have, however, is a shirtless Peter making her breakfast - a snapshot of their potential life together? This is television. And Peter did not have the luxury of more time. "You have someone that, in me, was totally forthright from day one, totally invested, totally committed, and then on the other hand, you have this person who goes back and forth, wishy washy, doesn't really know what he wants", he said. "I still struggle with it now". This is why love is just as much about timing as it is about anything else; sometimes being ready-dare I say, desperate-for each other is enough. "I personally wouldn't want to wear a dress". Eric gives a stoic goodbye speech, but Rachel is too wrapped up in her Peter drama to care. He finds she is distracted but feels only time will tell where they truly stand. No, we can't get over the quirky accommodations thing. He was the first to kiss her and won the first impression rose. We're not saying the small-screen hit is ideal by ANY means, but sometimes it DOES work - the proof is in the pudding...or maybe in the marriage licenses? "You are so easy and effortless to love and I just want to love you for the rest of your life".
"While things didn't end the way that I hoped, I have you to thank for the feelings I did have", he told Lindsay. Lindsay already has a successful career and it's not like she needed a little air time on a hit show to propel her into a social media star.
Then Peter claimed, "I feel attacked". So they chose to say goodbye. "We just want to build our lives together in a normal sense", she added. She's based in Dallas and he's in Miami.
Hometown visits were no walk in the park for Bryan and Rachel.
