Koscielny to miss FA Cup final following unsuccessful red-card appeal

A week ago, Per Mertesacker had probably resigned himself to watching Arsenal's FA Cup Final with Chelsea in the stands.

But with first-choice centre-backs Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel unavailable and Shkodran Mustafi a doubt, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may have no choice but to see if Mertesacker cannot only cope with Chelsea striker Diego Costa but also last the entire game.

Arsenal have recently been deploying a 3-4-2-1 for the latter parts of the season, and the formation has been a success for the North London club, as Arsenal have only lost once since changing to the formation.

"It will not be my last match anyway because no matter what happens I will stay in football".

Arsenal captain Per Mertesacker may be called upon by manager Arsene Wenger, though he has made only one appearance all season - coming off the bench against Everton - following fitness issues.

A couple of players including Alexis Sanchez, Gabriel Paulista could miss out on the clash against Chelsea in the FA cup final in Wembley after picking up knocks during the game.

The Frenchman also added that German centre-back Shkodran Mustafi has not resumed training after developing concussion-like symptoms following the win over Sunderland last week. I want to win the cup for my club.

"I feel like I'm coping pretty well and have had no major reaction with my knee", he said.

"I don't think I will match him on that front", Wenger said. It was a bittersweet moment for me because you know you've played your part to get there.

"I'm French, we've lived in a emergency state for a long time now and it not visible what the police are doing, usually".

His ongoing contract situation has alerted a number of Europe's elite sides, including Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City, who are believed to be keen to offer him an escape route. I owe it to this team and to this club.

In more positive team news, Wenger said Alexis Sanchez is "OK" after struggling with a thigh problem, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also in contention after returning from a hamstring problem.
