Trump cited what he said was "a really good feeling toward Israel" at the American Arab Islamic Summit in Saudi Arabia over the weekend. "No matter where we go we see the signs of Iran in the Middle East", Trump said. During his earlier visit with Arab leaders in Saudi Arabia, the USA leader said he "found new reasons for hope" for a joint peace effort and greater coordination in the fight against terrorism. Nonetheless, he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have said that they are hoping for a larger peace deal throughout the region.

"The Trump administration is focused on materially enhancing the quality of life and the economy for the Palestinians", said Michael Oren, a parliament member and former Israeli ambassador to the U.S., who now serves as an adviser at the prime minister's office.

President Trump became the first sitting president to pray at Jerusalem's Western Wall on Monday, visiting a site with both religious and political significance as he attempts to broker peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

The Western Wall visit drew controversy before Trump even left Washington, when USA officials declined to say whether it belonged to Israel.

Israel took control of the Old City after the Six Day War in 1967 and Israelis consider it, and all of Jerusalem, to be the capital of Israel, though Tel Aviv is recognized as the capital by the global community.

The caption during Monday's news conference at the prime minister's residence came as Trump administration officials continue to differ over whether to describe the city as being part of Israel.

The weight of gravity in Israeli politics has shifted dramatically rightward in the last two decades, probably because of Israeli disillusionment over the prospects for a land-for-peace deal given the continued violence, especially coming out of post-withdrawal Gaza.

He focused firmly on Iran in talks with Israeli leaders in Jerusalem on the first day of his two-day trip, pledging he would never let Tehran acquire nuclear arms and saying the deal struck with Tehran by the Obama administration needed fixing. Its 50th anniversary, according to the Jewish calendar, begins on Tuesday night, just hours after Trump leaves Israel. He'll meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem and given an address in Jerusalem.

Trump expressed three priorities when it comes to the U.S.

For this reason, U.S. officials refuse to say that the wall is part of Israel. While Trump seemed to fully embrace his visit to Saudi Arabia, he has abbreviated some of his Israeli cultural visits.

'People from all nations - even nations you would be surprised to hear - they want to stop the killing.

"We have before us a rare opportunity to bring security and stability and peace to this region and to its people", he said upon his arrival in Tel Aviv. And we don't know yet if this trip is a respite from controversies at home or a true reset where he's able to start a new chapter when he gets back to Washington.

"If he can make peace I wish him well", Horowitz said, but argued that Trump's track record has proven his inability to implement positive foreign policy. Thank you for this powerful expression of your friendship to Israel.

President Trump landed in Israel today for what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a truly historic visit.

Trump's lack of discretion during his Oval Office meeting with Russian officials raised concerns that he had put sources at risk and that Israel and other allies would be more reluctant to share information with Washington in future.
