Celtics power past Wizards in Game 7, 115-105

If Wall and Beal are playing well, the rebounds and second chance opportunities the Washington big men are getting may give the Wizards the little extra they need.

Boston Celtics centre Kelly Olynyk of Kamloops, B.C., had a career night with 26 points during Boston's Game 7 victory against the Washington Wizards on Monday.

Bradley Beal got 38 points for the Wizards but their campaign comes to a disappointing end. The Wizards bench defensive rotations were sad, which helped Olynyk get clean looks.

For both the Celtics and the Wizards, the next round means a meeting with the defending NBA Champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers, which hasn't gone good for any team to face them in the last two years. "Game 7s are fun".

Yet Boston rallied brilliantly to outscore Washington by 21-9 over the rest of the quarter to build a lead they would never relinquish. Olynyk scored 14 of his 26 points in the final fame, including a decisive stretch that started with seven minutes remaining and buried the Wizards. "In Game 7's, legs are gone'".

Isaiah Thomas used to imagine what it would be like to play in a Game 7 as he watched some of the NBA's biggest names cement their legacies on the league's biggest stage.

In a series that saw its share of swings and shoves and epic shots and dislodged teeth, Game 7 between the Celtics and Wizards boiled down to a very simple matter. The home team has won each of the first six games in this series. "Nobody ever has - but doing our best to leave everything we have out there on the floor", Celtics coach Brad Stevens said. I've felt like the Wizards were the better team early in the series, but the Celtics have swung things in their favor over Games 5 and 6. He rattled home an open three to start the run and made winning plays all over the floor to keep it rolling. "I could have gotten past (Markieff) Morris, probably". From there, however, it was all Celtics, as they closed the third on a 13-3 run, capped off by a Marcus Smart triple that put them up 85-79 going into the final 12 minutes.

Beal was complaining to a ref about a previous call as he backed to his basket to play defense, and Boston's Avery Bradley came up behind him for a screen.

Boston will forever know Olynyk as the savior of the top-seeded Celtics' season, but while he is now etched in Celtics basketball history, you'd be surprised to know he was once a quarterback. As reported by Vegas Insider, the home team has the advantage here, but just by a bit. The Wizards are 6-4 in Game 7s, 2-4 on the road.

They had 45 points in Game 7. Since his incredible 53-point outburst in Game 2, however, the point guard has failed to reach the 20-point mark three times.

The Celtics had Kelly Olynyk, and the Wizards didn't. Thomas has been known for his late-game skills, often going on scoring tears in the final quarter.
