If they exited the game with a win, they would have the Celtics right where they wanted them, facing elimination.
A 26-0 run is unfathomable.
Celtics at Wizards, Celtics lead series 3-2. All five of the Boston starters got in the scoring column and they had the fastbreak points in their favor 15-0. Thomas knew it was their turn to have that kind of a performance. I knew the history, from a place I knew as a child, formerly called the Boston Garden. "Hopefully, everybody else is treating it like that". John Wall scored 12 points after being held to two in the opening 12 minutes.
Well, someWizards did think Celtics fans might employ that vivid vocabulary.
LeBron James and his six NBA All-Defensive Team selections still gets left off of some "two-way player" rankings - although he is ironically often described as the best all-around player in the world. From top to bottom, the Celtics were unstoppable.
Tonight we've got the Spurs at Rockets in Game 6. "And that's what Avery Bradley does".
The Boston Celtics will be looking to close out the Wizards after making light work of them in a 123-101 blowout on Wednesday.
"They made shots tonight", said Wizards coach Scott Brooks.
The Celtics had their best offensive game of the season because absolutely nothing was forced. Jae Crowder also scored 18, grabbing eight rebounds. "That's really all you're looking for". That adaptability allows them to find the best spots for them to attack. But the Washington guards combined to go 14 of 36 from the floor and two of seven from three-point range. By hitting so many shots, the C's forced the Wizards to take the ball out from under the basket instead of pushing it up the court on a miss, where John Wall and co. are very risky. That's why having Al Horford on the floor and in the locker room is so important.
However, a big reason why the offense was so good was because of the defense. A 16-0 run gave the C's a 16-4 lead and it was never competitive again.
Horford created for himself and embraced the masterful chemistry the team was showing for long stretches. He simply recognized a matchup advantage and exploited it, and Horford does not always do that. He showed incredible patience, but did not pass up on a single good opportunity. Terry Rozier gave us great energy.
Avery Bradley has been doing all the little things to get the Boston Celtics over the hump this postseason. Al Horford deserves a lot of credit for his rim protection, as he altered several shots at the bucket that then resulted in open shots at the other end. "And that's what Avery Bradley does each and every night". Wednesday marked only the third time Bradley has scored 20 or more points in a playoff game.
If Leonard is hobbled for Game 6 it will be another blow to a team already without guard Tony Parker, after the veteran suffered a season-ending thigh injury in Game 2. The first two both came against Chicago in the first round.
Celtics can now advance to fight against the Cleveland Cavaliers if they win Game 6 this Friday, 13 May 2017, 8:00 am at Verizon Center, Washington.
