Few lawmakers expressed enthusiasm for the short-term bill, known as a budget 'extender, ' which Cuomo introduced after he and lawmakers blew through a Saturday budget deadline.
"Instead, Governor Cuomo and the state legislature should be enacting real reform by cutting wasteful, out-of-control spending and protecting the beleaguered taxpayers of NY who pay among the highest taxes in the nation", said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney.
NY state lawmakers on Monday voted to extend their deadline for passing a budget by two months.
Governor Cuomo ended a weekend of gridlocked budget negotiations by proposing a stopgap measure to keep the state funded and avert a shutdown after the legislature blew its Friday deadline. Among other things, the tabloid writes, De Francisco badmouthed Cuomo on the radio, and on Friday, announced he was heading home for the weekend, prompting others to follow his lead. The funds will complement $150,000 in state aid provided to Auburn and Owasco to study potential methods for treating water that contains cyanotoxins from blue-green algae blooms.

The state Legislature on Monday passed a short-term budget to avoid a government shutdown - and their pay will be withheld until a final agreement is reached. I agree that 16 and 17 year olds should not be housed with adults in correctional facilities.
Most observers agreed that this year's talks were a mess.
"We're going to have to take a hard look at whether or not we're able to move forward with our summer youth employment program". "We'll be working day in and day out to make sure we come up with a compromise that's fair, transparent and fully funds our vital services".
The Senate approved the budget extender during an afternoon session while the Assembly passed legislation later in the evening.
"This commonsense amendment would simply make New York State finally take responsibility for their own budgeting instead of passing these costs down to the county level", said Congresswoman Stefanik. He said the state will know more in May, when President Trump is required to release a more-detailed budget plan.
If a deal isn't reached after that, he said he would issue a so-called budget extender to keep state government operating.
Lawmakers won't be paid until a full budget is adopted.
"I'm glad what the governor said, that the direct care staff will get the minimum wage plus the 3.25 percent increase over the next two years; it's more than deserved".
As New York continues to wait for a budget agreement, the City of Albany remains in the dark on whether or not it will receive crucial funding.
