Point/Counterpoint: Tar Heels or Dog Days?

Thanks to both teams' impressive performances, SC is now just the 10th school in NCAA history to have both the men's and women's teams play in the Final Four.

Trend: The OVER is 8-3 in Oregon's last 11 games.

At Madison Square Garden, the East Region had no shortage of drama. It's the first time the venue has hosted the Final Four.

Three years later, Martin has toned down his sideline antics only barely, yet few people have complained. "So I think learn from what we've learned before, look at film, but play our game, use our game plan and execute it to the best of our abilities". Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have won eight of their last nine versus SEC opponents.

Butler and his colleague Alex Castle at the U of O student radio station KWVA have been reporting on the Ducks men's basketball team and have been assigned to cover the Final Four in Phoenix. He has averaged 24.5 points per game on 66.7 percent shooting in the NCAA Tournament and is lethal from beyond the arch. They have an old-school, low-post big man in Kennedy Meeks, who dominated Kentucky in the South Regional final, grabbing 17 rebounds and blocking four shots.

"I was at the Final Four having dinner with Bud Pressley", Buoncristiani said. Williams-Goss, meanwhile, has been in a shooting slump during the tournament, combining to shoot 19-for-61 from the field (31.1 percent) in his last four games.

All that madness has led us here: the final weekend of the NCAA tournament.

The Gamecocks won just 28 games in Martin's first two seasons.

One of the things he is proudest of is that, with the exception of one, all of the basketball players who finished their eligibility at Gonzaga have graduated. Founded in 1846, AP has covered all the major news events of the past 165 years, providing high-quality, informed reporting of everything from wars and elections to championship games and royal weddings.

Sophomore guard Tyler Dorsey has scored at least 20 points in seven consecutive games.

Offensively, Bell's finishing around the rim gives OR the ideal inside complement to Tyler Dorsey's long-range shooting touch and Dillon Brooks' NBA-quality dribble penetration.

For Oregon, Dillon Brooks and Jordan Bell have been going off. The ducks held the Jayhawks to 60 points, 23 points less than their 83 points per game average as a team. Those kids have not thrown in the towel or blinked one time all year.

They just made it to the Final Four. Playing in their first Final Four since 1939, the Ducks will try to earn an upset over the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Top-seeded North Carolina and second-seeded Kentucky showcased for the second time this season in this Elite Eight game. OR takes on North Carolina with a 8:49 p.m. tipoff.

The games will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

Since the start of the tournament, though, the Ducks have actually become a better rebounding team in Boucher's absence.

Zach Collins, Gonzaga. The top National Basketball Association prospect still in the bracket comes off the bench, but is an instant game-changer, a 7-foot freshman who can score and guard the rim.

Sindarius Thornwell has been one of the greatest stories of the 2017 NCAA tournament, and he is about to take over the Final Four.

Theo Pinson, North Carolina: Since his return in January after missing half the season, Pinson has infused the Tar Heels with energy and given them more of a backbone thanks to his floor-diving, do-whatever-it-takes-to-win style of play. They've lifted the Gamecocks in March just as they elevated the program by their arrival, and now these two future pros who signed on the heels of losing seasons have propelled their home-state team into the Final Four.
