Inauguration Day was a tough time for many people in America, especially vulnerable groups like immigrants and women.
Former model Melania Trump is married to American businessman and designated 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. A petition to NBC to fire her received almost 84,000 signatures and counting.
Katie Rich's tweet from Friday, during the presidential inauguration ceremonies.
Soon after the video went viral, Melania issued a legal letter to O'Donnel, who then announced her apology through Twitter, and set her account to private nearly immediately after the post.
"I was always deeply aware that I was living in history", she said. "It was inexcusable and I'm so sorry", Rich tweeted on Monday afternoon.
Rich also has not responded to an interview request.

Comments on the post mostly applaud Clinton, who is a married mother of two young children, for taking stand in the young Trump's defense.
The tweet went viral when a Facebook post - which has since been shared over one million times - criticized Rich for her "hateful online attack" on a child. Chelsea also managed make her feelings known concerning President Trump's policies going forward.
According to Deadline, "SNL" moved to suspend her on Monday, and she wasn't listed in the credits for the last episode that aired Saturday. The petition has almost 100,000 signatures.
When she apologized on Twitter, users continued to deride her over the remarks.
Whether Rich takes Harmon up on his offer remains to be seen, but the social media uproar is far from over. Whether it's about his cabinet appointments, alleged relationship with Russian Federation, or his tweeting habits, there's usually some sort of ridicule in each episode.
Meanwhile, President Trump has handed over responsibility for his British business interests to three of his other children.
