The Cowboys' score came in the first quarter, when Dak Prescott made a handsome fake on a toss left to Ezekiel Elliott, and then rolled right and hit a wide open Terrance Williams for a 31-yard touchdown pass to give Dallas a 7-0 lead.
DAK NOT A COLD-WEATHER GUY: Prescott didn't seem to like the cold and it didn't help that the ball was a little wet at times.
One thing is for certain: They've earned a place in the post-season conversation. A bad game in tough conditions against a great New York Giants defense on Sunday Night Football is not going to change that. Then late in the game, Jenkins forced Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant to fumble the ball which was recovered by safety Landon Collins, helping to ice the game for NY.
Weakside linebacker Sean Lee had himself a very impressive game. After Elliott picked up the first down, Prescott found Williams, who was wide open on a blown coverage for the touchdown.
The Giants converted that turnover into Eli Manning's first and only touchdown pass of the game, a 61-yarder to receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Congrats to the @Giants Defense for one hell of a game.
All in all, the Giants will take the win and move on. The duo of Giants cornerbacks in Janoris Jenkins and Leon Hall both intercepted Prescott, who had previously had the worst game of his career back in Week 1 (in terms of passer rating) in the loss to NY. "I'm my biggest critic", said Prescott. They kept Ezekiel Elliott out of the end zone, and forced Prescott to have his lowest completion percentage of the year. So, it was in a complete disaster, but Prescott's play was largely responsible for the loss. If Prescott flails again, with the playoffs rapidly approaching, the murmurs about putting a healthy Romo in will grow louder, even if Jones insisted Sunday night that it would only be Prescott's unavailability that will lead to a switch. Dak Prescott has made all the right decisions and plenty of big plays. That was the game in miniature - the Giants were winning despite their own feeble offense, and the Cowboys were in this game because of a defense that looked better than it had all season. The defense has really stepped up from past year.
"There were some tight throws to be made", Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said of his quarterback's performance. The Giants can technically take over the top spot in the division, but the Cowboys have already clinched a playoff spot. I'm not a Cowboys fans but I give respect where it's due and from what I see, Prescott is playing at an elite QB level.
There are also a lot of missed opportunities on the defensive side of the ball. "We just play our game".
I believe Church would have made those interceptions if not for the protective cast on his forearm, but unfortunately that's not the way things turned out. "I just went out there and did my job". You kind of just expect Bailey to make it regardless of the distance. With the win, the Giants are now 9-4, ensured of their first winning record since 2012.
