Broncos rule Trevor Siemian out against Jaguars

Again. Yes, this has been obvious for more than a month, but Sunday's loss made it official: the Jaguars will miss the postseason for the ninth consecutive season. Despite their one year together as teammates, the pupil Siemian obviously listened well under the tutelage of Manning to keep his helmet on as much as possible.

A loss to Kansas City last week has placed their playoff hopes in jeopardy and they know a win is critical when they play the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday (10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET, CBS, DirecTV). His favorite target was Demaryius Thomas, who had five catches for 54 yards.

These guys were both big-name players for Denver when they left the team to sign large contracts with the Jaguars.

"We haven't played our best football yet", cornerback Chris Harris said. The Jaguars defense held the Broncos offense to just 52 yards in the first half.

Denver used an eight-play, 75-yard scoring drive in the second quarter for its only offensive touchdown, a possession that was helped when Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith was flagged for hitting Lynch in the head on a third-down pass attempt.

Hurns is tied for third in receptions, yards and touchdowns. The Jaguars combined for 154 yards on the afternoon, which should have allowed Bortles better success through the air.

"When you look at the rushes, you need explosive runs", Bradley said. The ground game did pick up 104 rushing yards, but this team can not keep relying on victories when they score 20 points or less. "That's what we didn't have". In the receiving end, Marqise Lee had 37 yards and a touchdown in four receptions while Allen Robinson added 24 yards in two catches.

Additionally, the Jaguars' passing game has mostly stalled out during the current seven-game losing streak - only four completions of at least 30 yards. And Lynch - in a game plan largely created to protect him from either getting into, or causing too much, trouble - didn't top 100 yards passing until the Broncos' first possession of the fourth quarter. It was Roby's second defensive touchdown this year, tying him for the league lead.

There are a lot of factors that have played into Robinson's lack of success this year. "[Sunday], we didn't really convert on too many "go" balls".

"He gave us some juice", Kubiak said.

"I look at it as: Here are bunch of teams that have an opportunity or are in a race to be in the playoff hunt, so let's see how we stack up against them", quarterback Blake Bortles said.

And it's a very delicate line to toe because Kubiak needs the football game against the Jaguars, but Siemian is also coming off the best performance of his career and all indications are that he will be ready to get back under center for Week 14 against an improving Tennessee team in Nashville. But the eye-test is the Jaguars are still playing hard and Bradley expects that to continue this week against Minnesota. But he showed promise on some other plays, and had one potential long pass that he set up with his mobility go through Virgil Green's hands.
