Raiders S Karl Joseph out vs. Chiefs with toe injury
Dec 09 2016 by Dustin Murphy
There is a monster game slated for Week 14's edition of Thursday Night Football, as the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs square off in an AFC West showdown that will go a long way in determining which squad will take home the division title.
The uphill climb proved too daunting for the Silver and Black, who snapped a six game win streak with a 21-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs have handed the Raiders two of their three losses this season, and forced Carr into his two worst games on the year.
Carr was 17 of 41 for 117 yards passing for Oakland, though the ugly stat line wasn't entirely his fault. Sustaining that dominance in Kansas City will be tough. On the Tyreek Hill muffed punt, it was James Cowser who recovered the ball.
Derek Carr comes to Kansas City with a record of 1-4 against the Chiefs so far in his young career.
Tonight's (December 8) Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs game is not one to miss. They look poised to give the Chiefs trouble in the division for the next several years.
But with two wins over the Raiders this season, the Chiefs (10-3) hold the tiebreaker over Oakland (10-3), giving them a leg-up not only in the division race but for a first-round playoff bye. "It probably won't hit until afterward and we are unwinding". The passing game was disjointed at times, a complete mess at others with everyone save the line sharing in blame.
Charcandrick West also had a touchdown run for the Chiefs (10-3).
As for Alex Smith, I wouldn't recommend playing him tonight even if there was good weather. The Chiefs, meanwhile, suddenly have an offense capable of big-play strikes, thanks to tight end Travis Kelce, who has four consecutive 100-yard receiving games, and dynamic rookie receiver Tyreek Hill, who scored his eighth and ninth touchdowns of the season Thursday night.
Cincinnati Bengals 4-7-1 vs Cleveland Browns 0-12: Both teams should be considered out of contention especially the Browns Bengals win 24-14.
"It was insane, man".
"Depending on what the doctors say", Bowles said, "I'm sure it could be". After another fruitless Raider drive, Hill - apparently energized by thousands of Chiefs fans chanting his name before a punt - broke free for a 78-yard return for a touchdown that put the Chiefs ahead 21-3.
"It was one of those next-man-up things", Nelson said.
Latavius Murray was running strong, and finished with 103 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.
The Raiders are seventh in the league with 114.6 rushing yards per game and also lead the league in fewest sacks allowed. Obviously we played terrible. "We worked a lot on it in the off-season", Carr said of the pistol. The pass was incomplete.
TRY SOME STICKUM: The Raiders were plagued by dropped passes, including one by Seth Roberts that would have resulted in a touchdown.
Cooper had 5 catches for 29 yards on 10 targets. "Just do what we've been doing and have that killer mindset". "We just have to find a way to execute and move the ball". The victor of their prime-time matchup at frosty Arrowhead Stadium will have the inside track on ending a lengthy division title drought, not to mention the potential for a first-round playoff bye and a home game in the second round.
